In every scene of The Upward Drift, two voices respond to the same moment from opposite directions — Echo, who drifts toward comfort, and Nova, who's already moving toward what's next.

The Ending is about the kind of loss that comes in the natural order of things — a parent, a grandparent, an elder, a mentor. It's the casserole days, and then the quiet after they stop coming. It's the calls that used to happen without thinking, and the strange first laugh that catches you off guard weeks later, followed by the guilt of having laughed at all.
